In what was supposed to be a night to savor turned into blood and tears...Come tommorow, expect every back page of every newspaper to cover this.A young man of only 19 named Aaron Ramsey, which has so much potential and future ahead of him in football.....may never play the game again. In what was supposed to be a very normal game against Stoke,Arsenal will forever remember what happened today at the Britannia Stadium. An Arsenal player named Aaron Ramsey was playing his heart out for a place in the England squad come the World Cup finals in June when a Stoke player called Ryan Shawcross made a horrific tackle on the young lad...The tackle was so grim that Sky Sports and ESPN wouldn't show the replay. It resulted in him having a suspected broken leg.His leg was literally turned 90 degrees when put on the ground and the worst part was that he was conscious throughout the whole thing. It was so bad that they had to send an ambulance into the stadium to take him straight to the hospital for emergency surgery. Both sides were in complete shock, the Arsenal players was nearly in tears after witnessing what had just happened to their teammate/friend,let alone the millions watching at home. The score was tied when this happened and the Arsenal players later did what Ramsey would have wanted them to do,win the match....They scored two goals after that and dedicated both the goals to him.It sparked emotional celebrations from the away fans at the stadium and looking at how much the win meant to them,i was like every single Arsenal fan in that stadium, filled with emotions..This was a season defining win.But it felt like the heaviest lost ever.
I kept asking myself the same question over and over again that night,'What if someone were to suddenly take away the thing I enjoyed doing most since...forever?The thing i loved most,football........gone.I bet the poor lad's asking the very same question himself....
My deepest condolences to you Ramsey. Here's hoping that you make a speedy recovery and (even if it pains every emotional part of me to say this)....maybe,just maybe.....play football again.
